Federico Calabuig (Valencia, Spain, 1986) is a writer and filmmaker of short films as ‘Leah se pronuncia lía’ (2019), ‘Barrymore’s effect’ (2015), ‘Three in a bed’ (2013), ‘Freud’ (2012) and ‘Oh my god!’ (2011), selected and awarded in national and international festivals. In theater, he wrote and directed the plays ‘Low Cost Club’ (2014) and ‘Sonia y Selena’ (2016).
He writes since he was a child, but he share openly his short stories in ‘Pie de foto’ since 2010. In September 2016 he published his first book of short stories ‘Mi corazón, un Tamagotchi’ (My heart, a Tamagotchi) with Ediciones Hidroavión.
In 2019 he launches ‘Patrones de papel’ (Paper Patterns), an online collage + poetry space based on clippings from fashion, decoration and culture magazines. This creative project arises as a result of the solo exhibition he held in Nakama Lib (Madrid) in November 2017 with a selection of 20 collage works and small texts versing around the world of fashion.
He usually combines his writer and filmmaker role with the culture journalist work in ‘La cinematk de Joe Marlango’ and as a contributor to magazines and websites. On the other side, he is a digital, internal and audiovisual communication expert for companies, agencies and public institutions. He has also worked as an advertising creative for brands as Santander, Páginas Amarillas, Allianz or Control.
